After 2 weeks sunshine and enormous amount of mileage, I landed on Gatwick last Friday night. The trip from the airport to home wasn't easy, but finally I been in the bed 3:30 at the morning.... the trip from the airport to home was longer than my flight!
Gran Canaria was more than great, I managed to ride 1850km and nearly 42000m climb in 10 training day. I spent more than 75 hours in the saddle and gained a serious tan line...and some more strength.
I have to say, I am still in love with Tenerife, but now Gran Canaria is the winner. Numberless climbs and never ending combinations of long rides. The island's south side is very tourist centric place, but north is more rural and "traditional". No major traffic, drivers are very patient and careful (local ones... tourist drivers are pain in the...), roads are good enough ( no single puncture...but I do not take risk with tub wheels, stick with a normal clincher-inner tube version). It is a slightly bit more expensive then Tenerife, but still priced very reasonable. Weather was amazing, only few colder days (21 degrees), but usually the average temperature was over 24 degrees and the highest was 34! So, great rip, I am definitely going back!
Last Sunday I built up my new racing bike for a season. After long waiting my Flash 29er is ready for a Rock & Roll. I had couple of shorter training ride on during the week and I am absolutely love it! I am going to post here the full building and some nice photos from the bike.
24 hour UK champ is coming up 2 weeks time. I still have to get sorted lots of things, but physically and mentally I am ready for the race.
Btw, we still hasn't got driver and car for a race...if anyone fancy to join and help for us, please let me know!
So lots of concentration on training and preparation now, little bit less attention on other things....
